Huntly Castle Caravan Park is an ideal base for exploring Scotland's only Castle Trail. A selection of the world's most unique castles ranging from the fairy tale magic of Craigievar Castle to the rugged splendour of Kildrummy Castle ruins, to the elegant timelessness of the country house grandeur of Leith Hall.
Aberdeenshire is matchless in the richness of its castle tradition and Scotland's Castle Trail brings some of the most splendid castellated architecture together on a clearly signposted tourist trail. Step back in time and explore an incomparable collection of treasures from the medieval fortresses of the less peaceful times in Scotland's history
Rare examples of architectural detail exist at most of the castles on the trail - the wheel staircase at Fyvie, which was wide enough for the Gordon Family to ride their horses up the tower as a wager, to the rare star shaped ramparts at Corgaff Castle.
Aberdeenshire has more castles per acre than any other part of the United Kingdom. Many of the
castles are open to the public, including Dunotter Castle which was the setting for the Mel Gibson film - Hamlet.
Right on our doorstep is Huntly Castle, the ancestral home of the Gordon family. Although now in ruins there is access to the public.
